Arenas Negras

A campsite set among Canarian pines on black volcanic soil at around 900 metres in northwest Tenerife. The dark ash — a direct legacy of the Trevejo volcano eruption — contrasts with the forest and creates a landscape unlike anything else on the island. There are cabins, a motorhome area and picnic zones. An overnight permit from the Cabildo is required (922 239 500). Take the TF-373 Icod–Puerto de Erjos road and turn off at km 9.2 for the Pista Arenas Negras.
