Las Ventanas de Güímar

Water channels hand-carved into the cliffs above Güímar. The ventanas — windows — were cut through to light the tunnels and clear rubble; the canal was never used. Today the route threads seven passages with increasingly dramatic drops into the valley, and at the last tunnel an opening onto thin air that stays with you. Not for heights or small spaces.
