Playa San Juan — Atlantis

The ruins of an old freshwater pumping station, built around 1934 and reclaimed by the sea. Stone arches and stairs cut into the volcanic rock form natural pools for swimming and snorkelling, with fish, sea urchins, rays and turtles. The water gets noticeably colder near the underground gallery. From the Playa San Juan car park, five minutes south along the coastal path, through the gap in the wall and down the stairs. Best at low tide with calm water. Water shoes essential.
